The Bob James Education Center |
|
The Bob James Education Center is a comfortable facility designed for children in the After School Program. Each room has been specifically designed for activities related to Junior Golf, Personal Life Management, and Academic Vocational Pursuits. The children have tremendous pride in their "home away from home" at the Center.
The dining room is where the children start their day. While they have their snacks, they are also engaging in social exchange with peers and teachers, as well as learning etiquette and manners. The room sets the tone for a comfortable relaxing beginning.
The library is where they develop an appreciation of reading and a love of books. Here they have access to encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, and other areas treating various branches of learning. The atmosphere is cozy and conducive to reflection. The tutoring rooms are where the children hone their study skills.
Here they do homework, receive extra help from tutors in areas where they are weak, have group discussions on values and work on strategy games - all tactics geared to facilitate intellectual and emotional growth. Here students can fill out application forms and pursue what is out there for them in higher learning. |
The computer room is a busy productive area where the children work on the "Chi Chi Kids Express", as well as thank you notes and banners - all the while familiarizing them with the business world and the skills that are needed in the market place. The darkroom, off the computer room, offers innumerable creative possibilities for the future when ready for use.
The kitchen is not only a place to learn culinary skills but to get a sense of aesthetics as to how a dish should look as well as taste. Here the children learn to read a recipe, measure out its components and put them all together.
The drama room is where the children learn drama, ballet, grooming, modeling, and other activities that engage their fancy. What better methods to build poise and confidence than in a room where everyone can have a good time and make choices about what they would like to do or be in life? |
|
The apprenticeship room is equipped with TV and comfortable chairs to create a serene atmosphere and sense of belonging for those who have earned status for their hard work at golf.
The lanai is a kind of "catch all" room for extra-curricular activities, e.g., skits, golf activity, drawing, collages, photo arrangements, and other informal activities. It is favored by the children for its free-wheeling atmosphere.
The laundry room gives some sense of domestic skills, indirectly teaching responsibility and organization.
The living room is set up with a piano, TV, a fireplace, and comfortable couches where people can visit, read, play games, stage skits; it serves also as a center for Parent/Teacher/Kid meetings and birthday parties.
